The thief cannot bear the fact that you possess the word of God in your heart.Therefore, if he is successful at stealing the word of God, he will try to cunningly convince you to give up. simply because he doesn't want you to have it.
He know life is in the power of the word of God and full of life for you...
He may even try to create stressful situations that cause you to conclude that your only solution is to sacrifice the things you dearly love.
Jesus uses this word to describe the work of the thief
John 10:10
10 The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.
