Water Baptism Or Holy Ghost Baptism

Traditional Water Baptism Is Present Today... But The True Baptism Really Is Being Baptized With The Holy Ghost.

ANOTHER POINT....
Many churches today practice infant baptism, believing that baptizing children ensures they will be Christians and will be “saved.” But nowhere in the Bible is infant baptism taught.

Acts 19:1-5

1 And it came to pass, that, while Apollos was at Corinth, Paul having passed through the upper coasts came to Ephesus: and finding certain disciples,

2 He said unto them, Have ye received the Holy Ghost since ye believed? And they said unto him, We have not so much as heard whether there be any Holy Ghost.

3 And he said unto them, Unto what then were ye baptized? And they said, Unto John's baptism.

4 Then said Paul, John verily baptized with the baptism of repentance, saying unto the people, that they should believe on him which should come after him, that is, on Christ Jesus.

5 When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.

Titus 3:5-7

5 Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;

6 Which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour;

7 That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.

Did Paul say it is not by works? He certainly did. So then water baptism as a work is not part of the gospel.

John the Baptist.....

Through God's direction, John the Baptist challenged the people to prepare for the coming of the Messiah by turning away from sin and being baptized as a symbol of repentance.

Matthew 3:11

11 I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance. but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire

Repentance is a process of recognizing sin in our life, feeling guilty for that sin, asking forgiveness for that sin, committing our whole heart and mind to changing our entire way of life.

Allowing Jesus Christ to live within us to produce a changed life. It is all about leaving a sinful way of living and pursuing a righteous way of living.

Q AND A

If Jesus was without sin, then why was He baptized by John the Baptist?

His baptism was a sign of this great truth and it was confirmed immediately by a voice from heaven.

Matthew 3:14-17

14 But John forbad him, saying, I have need to be baptized of thee, and comest thou to me?

15 And Jesus answering said unto him, Suffer it to be so now: for thus it becometh us to fulfil all righteousness. Then he suffered him.

16 And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him:

17 And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.

No, Jesus didn’t need to repent but we do, for we have sinned, and our only hope is Christ and his sacrifice for us.

Have you opened your heart and life to His forgiveness and His cleansing power?

"For by one Spirit we were all baptized into one body"

1 Corinthians 12:13

13 For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit.

Paul is speaking of a Spirit baptism that puts one in the Spiritual body of Christ not water, and one cannot combine both.

The simple reason is that they are two completely different things. You can’t say water is the Spirit baptism because we see people baptized in water and not receiving the Spirit and we also see people receiving the Spirit without being water baptized.

Ephesians 4:5

5 One Lord, one faith, one baptism,

Apostle Peter explained before baptism: Acts 2:38 “Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit” .

Acts 10:38

38 How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.

John 15:3

3 Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you.

Romans 3:25
25 Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God;

LOOKING AT LOOPS GOD DID USES WATER ONLY UNTIL JESUS CAME ON EARTH...

1 Peter 3:20

20 Which sometime were disobedient, when once the longsuffering of God waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was a preparing, wherein few, that is, eight souls were saved by water.

Ephesians 4:22-24
22 That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts;

23 And be renewed in the spirit of your mind;

24 And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.

Numbers 8:5-7

5 And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying,

6 Take the Levites from among the children of Israel, and cleanse them.

7 And thus shalt thou do unto them, to cleanse them: Sprinkle water of purifying upon them, and let them shave all their flesh, and let them wash their clothes, and so make themselves clean.

Isaiah 1:16

16 Wash you, make you clean; put away the evil of your doings from before mine eyes; cease to do evil;

Jeremiah 2:22

22 For though thou wash thee with nitre, and take thee much soap, yet thine iniquity is marked before me, saith the Lord God.

KEYS...

28 For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.
